How do we see the Bauhaus? We see the Bauhaus as the school where one could have studied how to fix life on planet Earth by designing. To design for all, was attitude by which school consciously announced its participation in the construction of more righteous world than the existing one. Clear ethical decisions are followed by clear aesthetic imperative: to find a form that makes the idea understandable. Understandable to as many people as possible, best to everyone. Bauhaus school did not wish to design exceptional but everyday situations. Rather design a kitchen than a salon, rather make a spoon than a brooch. Bauhaus teachers knew that projects have sense if they are a tool that spreads "health" and that decorating is a kind of "illness". And one more thing: forms that they invented could have arised only in that time. And no matter how pathetic it may sound, we still haven’t found more important reason for creation.
How do we see the Bauhaus Museum? As a "machine for exposure" in the park. By placing it in the park we put it into twenty-first century context. We want to create a situation in which the museum does not "race" with the exhibits, aware that the only correct solution is their coexistence. We create micro-worlds which we can control with our architecture.
How will we do that? We will build the glass pavilion in the park. And what is most important we will save as much of the park as possible. In “irregular” greenhouse ground floor plan is the hall. Inside we place spaces intended for visitors of the exhibition and park. All hall areas spread out under the eaves and further to park. Below the the hall are the depots, workshops and toilets of visitors. Above the “greenhouse”, among the tree crowns, we place the exhibition “container”. Perfectly illuminated and air conditioned "white box" for exposure.
