To build on the Rovinj peninsula a few steps from the St. Euphemia church, means to build a house which will be on one of the ten postcards that represent Croatia. Through the building we witness the time that we belong to by showing appropriate respect for one remarkable place. We choose forms that shape spaces of parks and gardens, spaces that covered the hotel site till recent. By adding a green surface we return to the peninsula what had been taken away from it. We use elements typical for the Mediterranean coast, the grammar of terraces and gardens.
We build a maximally contemporary traditional house. Then we inscribe the programme, trying to define the house with "Neufert" clarity. Spaces for the guests are "turned" towards sea and services are pushed into the "depths" of the plot. Finally we plant Mediterranean vegetation on the roof terraces and in atria and cover the pathways with roughly carved stone.
